The Brazilian Congress of Black Researchers - COPENE @copenenacional presents at the CLOSING of its activities and cultural program:
Bongar Group and Xambá's coconut @grupobongar
"Formed in the Xambá community of Quilombo do Portão do Gelo, in Olinda, the Bongar group has been preserving and spreading the culture of African roots through the Xambá Nation for 20 years. The word bongar has Bantu origin and means: search for spiritual knowledge."
Guests:
Pirão Bateu from Xambá @piraobateudaxamba
"Pirão is part of the tradition within the Xambá community. It accompanies the food of the offerings (axés) that are given to the deities. In the musical group "Pirão Bateu", these utensils gain a marked sound and intensify the emotions of the songs linked to Candomblé and Coco de Roda."
Xambá das Yabás
"The Xambá das Yabás group is formed by the yabás of the Xambá Terreiro, which completed 90 years, in Pernambuco. Xambá das Yabás is also the result of actions developed by the Cultural Center Bongar Group, which brought together these women who have been together for years, many since childhood, in the Xambá Quilombo, in the Xambá Terreiro premises, in the rituals, in the experience of religious rituals, in the experience of Coco play and in the popular community festivals."
